How Project ION's interactive tools handle the information you enter. Last updated: June 2026.
These tools run as web pages in your own browser. We do not operate a server that collects or stores what you enter, we do not create accounts, and we do not sell, rent, or share your information for advertising.
Commuter (Worker) tool. You enter a home location and a work location. To find your nearest center and measure distances, your address is sent to a public geocoding service — the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder and/or Zippopotam.us — which returns map coordinates. Those services operate under their own privacy practices. Your address and results are used only in your browser to calculate your savings and are not stored by us.
Employer tool. If you load or type an employee roster, it is processed entirely in your browser to estimate organizational impact. The roster is not uploaded to or stored by us. To place employees on the map, their addresses are sent to the same public geocoding services. The employer remains responsible for its own employees' data and for any consent or notice its use of this tool may require.
The tools may save your assumption settings (for example, cost per mile or days per week) in your browser's local storage so the page remembers them on your device. This stays on your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. Your home, work, or employee addresses are not stored this way.
We do not use these tools to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.
You can print or save your results as a PDF. That file is created on your own device and stays with you.
